The Poet

Forever regarding
the high river wall
that runs
along Markievicz Road;
clothed in verse;
cast in bronze;
a poet stands.

He dreams of rising
from his plinth to walk
onto the bridge
so he can dwell
on the flow
of the Garavogue.
