Just spent a lovely evening at North West Words arts night in Cafe Blend, Letterkenny.
Featured writers were Susan Millar DuMars and Anne Marie Gallagher, with a highly enjoyable open mic section. The variety of themes and styles from tonight’s readers was great, with everything from caring for a person with a terminal illness to Irish mythology and what our heroes of old would think if they could see us now, to the genuine announcement of pregnancy in a poem. It was a pleasure to be there and a privilege to be involved. I’ll have to get writing to come up with something new for next month!
Well done Eamonn and all the team for keeping this event going and keeping it free of charge.
A few lines inspired by tonight’s readers: –
I used to think that poetry
could only be written by people
who knew how to put words into verse
cleverly.
Now I know that poetry
is written when people have thoughts
that are too big to only be
thoughts.

It was a great night, indeed, Siobhán, and great to see you, again, a chara!
